Description

In today's modern world where your infrastructure spans across multiple clouds and on-premises data-centers, there is a shortage of tools that can help you seamlessly manage your mixed hybrid environments from one single place. OMS is an all-in-one cloud and IT management solution for the enterprise which aims to solve that problem. In this course, Getting Started with Microsoft Operations Management Suite, you'll get a better understanding of what OMS is, and exactly what it does. First, you’ll explore the product architecture and how to create a workspace, activate solutions, enable performance and log data collection. Next, you'll learn how to understand and analyze the data collected from data sources. Finally, you'll discover how to write log search queries, configure alerts, and design your own custom views using the View Designer. By the end of this course, you’ll have a very clear understanding of this product, and realize the benefits of how it can help you centralize the management of your hybrid environments – thereby making your management experience highly efficient.

Course Overview
Hello, my name is Kunal D. Mehta. I am an independent IT consultant who specializes in Microsoft infrastructure technologies. I gladly welcome you to watch this course on Getting Started with Microsoft Operations Management Suite. This course has been primarily designed for the IT ops audience. This product helps administrators manage their hybrid IT environments more efficiently by giving them a greater visibility into their operational infrastructure. This tool aims to fill the current gap of not having a single point of management for your hybrid, multi-cloud and on premises environments. OMS makes this possible by giving you ready-made solutions that are predefined and preconfigured to target your systems and collect operational data from them. The most important data out of that is visualized and the other part of it can be searched by writing search queries in a highly scalable log search engine. You can also configure a lurch to notify you or take an automated action based on a trigger, just in case an unwanted event occurs. What I love about this product is that it's extremely granular and highly customizable, so that you can configure it to show you exactly what you want to see first. This course will introduce you to makeshift OMS, teach you how to collect and analyze data from your servers, then write log search queries to be able to search for that data, configure alerts to take an automated action in case something unexpected happens and steps that you can take to enhance your OMS account. By the end of this course, you'll have a very clear understanding of what OMS is, what it's for and how to get started as an OMS administrator. I would suggest if you want to follow the demos and do them on your own, keep an Azure subscription and at least one Windows server box ready. I look forward to having you join me for the rest of the course.
